Personal Style at 325 Pounds

Dressing in black most of the time was the one way I felt I could express my metal side.

Let’s talk personal style at 325 pounds

Not many can really tell by looking at me, but I’m a metalhead. If you want to know my number one passion outside of my kids, family, and healthy lifestyle- it’s heavy metal!!! It has always been heavy metal. I’m a nerd, I love nerdy things and loud, fast music. I can be found at a local metal show at least a couple times a month and my husband is the front man for a band.

When I say this to new people, I often hear that they would not have guessed this by looking at me. Well, I was morbidly obese my whole life and there weren’t band shirts, or any clothes I felt authentic to expressing myself, that even fit me. I had to be concerned with clothes I could wear more than clothes I wanted to wear. I wasn’t even able to consider style as an option.

Now that I’m smaller I really don’t even know where to start with “my style.” I feel comfortable in dresses so I wear a lot of dresses. They might not be super metal, but after not having the option for so long, it feels great to feel feminine and pretty. It doesn’t even matter to me how other nerdy, metal chicks dress. I know who and what I am, and I express that how I want.

I LOVE having so many options for clothes now

This dress may not show off the nerdy metalhead I really am, but it sure feels great to be able to wear it!

I do still love wearing black! I just look so much better in it now! lol
